As one of the important technological innovation countries in the world, Britain is also an active respondent and participant in the ¡°One Belt, One Road¡± Initiative. At the 19th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) this year, the British Pavilion takes ¡°Internet of Things (IoT)¡± as its theme. A number of British IoT enterprises participate in CHTF and look forward to working with Chinese technology companies to explore the future of the IoT industry, and jointly seek new business opportunities and means of cooperation. On November 16, the British Pavilion also held a special communication meeting for IoT exchange between China and the UK in Exhibition Hall 1 of CHTF.

¡°Although our theme in this year is the Internet of Things, we also pay attention to other areas of technology such as big data, AI, sensors and semiconductors. From smart home to industrial applications, our exhibitors come from different fields.¡± Mr. Danial Shaikh, Consul of the Department for International Trade of the British Consulate General Guangzhou said.

Mr. Danial Shaikh pointed out that ¡°we are looking for cooperation in three key areas.¡± The big data industry could give play to the innovative strength of the UK and the market advantages of China. In the past few years, the big data industry in China has witnessed rapid development. Many British companies are very strong in this regard. Therefore, China and Britain can have good cooperation in the big data industry. In the field of AI (Artificial Intelligence), UK boasts enterprises such as DeepMind and many renowned universities that can boost development of both countries in this field. Finally, Mr. Danial Shaikh mentioned the field of semiconductors. He said many advanced semiconductor manufacturers in China had been seeking to upgrade their manufacturing technology. The United Kingdom could provide assistance in advanced manufacturing technology and semiconductor design.

Under the ¡°One Belt, One Road¡± Initiative, the economic and commercial exchanges and cultural communication between China and the United Kingdom have been increasingly frequent and deep-going, opening up the golden age of cooperation between the two countries. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial-level diplomatic relations between the two countries. Against this background, cooperation between our two countries is increasingly frequent and deeper. In 2016, the Sino-British Business Innovation Center was set up in Shenzhen. Thanks to this effort, 15 enterprises from the UK conducted three-month face-to-face exchanges with Chinese enterprises and gained deeper understanding of the Chinese market. ¡°Now, we are more concerned about the new Five-Year Plan, ¡®Made in China 2025¡¯ and the digital strategy of the UK. In fact, there are many common grounds between the two. The cooperation framework set up by the heads of state of the two countries should be put into implementation so that a long-term cooperation model can be established,¡± concluded Mr. Danial Shaikh.
